Diane Harder is a Spokane-area artist who teaches private and small-group acrylic painting classes from her home studio. She keeps classes intentionally small โ typically 1 or 2 students, with larger groups of up to 4 every other month โ so every student gets personal attention from a working artist.
Classes cover a wide range of subjects: eagles, jellyfish, floral scenes, wine still lifes, Mt. Fuji, cats, and more. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Sundays are popular but scheduling is flexible. Diane also sells her original paintings and is displayed at Second Look Books in the area.
Beyond her classes, Diane leads the Facebook group "Painting with the Mod Squad" โ a private community of 6,100+ artists and art lovers she actively keeps alive with daily posts, tutorials, and encouragement. That's a meaningful online platform that reaches far beyond each class session.
Diane has been running this group since 2018, when she took full ownership and renamed it after growing it from the ground up. Today Diane posts monthly challenges with reference photos, shares tutorials to inspire members, and actively welcomes new painters. She runs the group with a small team of moderators from different U.S. states and around the world โ so the community is monitored and active around the clock.
6,100+ Members ยท Owner since 2018 ยท Global ReachImportant for advertisers: This group's membership is national and international โ not just Spokane. A mention here reaches art lovers across the U.S. and around the world. This is priced and sold separately from Diane's local in-studio class advertising for that reason.
Diane's students and Mod Squad members are curious, community-minded people who appreciate local and handcrafted businesses. Classes are often gifted as experiences โ making this audience especially receptive to gift shops, bakeries, wellness businesses, and other "treat yourself" brands.
Every class ends with students holding up their own completed painting โ a joyful moment that gets shared. Here's a sample of what Diane has taught:
Diane's listing has two distinct audiences with different fit profiles. Make sure you're choosing the right channel โ or both.
Diane's students are local Spokane-area residents of all ages โ families, adults, seniors, and kids. This audience is a great fit for businesses offering local services, experiences, gifts, food, wellness products, or anything a Spokane community member might enjoy discovering. Fit is broad and welcoming.
The Mod Squad is a community of passionate painters and art lovers from across the U.S. and around the world. Because Diane has personally built and nurtured this group since 2018, she's selective about what she promotes here โ shoutouts in the Mod Squad are reserved for businesses that genuinely serve artists and feel like a natural fit for the community. Misaligned promotions won't be accepted.
Higher packages also include: personal mentions in the Mod Squad Facebook group, the option to provide a small sample or gift for class students, and logo placement on class materials.
